Headmistress Welcome

Dear GHS Future Trailblazers,

Welcome to the Girls’ High School (GHS). This is your new home, and we are delighted to have you join our esteemed academic institution. Congratulations on securing a place here!

At GHS, you will have access to thirty-four different subject areas. Our world is your oyster, and you can conquer anything you set out to achieve. It is important to us that you enjoy the learning process and that the five years you spend with us are filled with personal growth and development.

Your first priority as a student of GHS is your academics. Do your best to adjust quickly to secondary education and accomplish all the academic goals set out for you by your teachers and yourself. While maintaining a strong academic performance, immerse yourself in the twelve clubs and organizations GHS has to offer.

As a GHS student, remember to uphold our rules and regulations, live by our motto, and embrace challenges daily. Per Ardua Ad Alta. Enjoy your journey with us.

THE SCHOOL SONG

By Yvonne Gaynes

Per Ardua Ad Alta
The prize is worth the pains
Through toil and earnest effort
We reach the highest gains
And while we learn to labour,
We will obey the rule
Of our dear Alma Mater
St. Vincent Girls’ High School.

For glorious lives before us
We will ourselves prepare
To build our country’s future
We’ll make our deepest care.
Our wits we learn to fashion
Into a sharp-edged tool,
At our dear Alma Mater
St. Vincent Girls’ High School.

And when we leave her portals
We often will return
With love and eager longing
Our loyal hearts will burn.
And oft in thoughts we’ll wander
Along the pathways cool,
Of our dear Alma Mater

SCHOOl HYMN

By Jennifer Glasgow- Browne

Oh Thou before whose presence
We humble children ask
To bear our wrongs with patience
And guide us in our task. Help us to work together,
As each new day is born
To seek and gain true knowledge
Imparted every morn.

Though hard might be the pathway,
United all in mind,
We daily work and labour
To profit all mankind.
Help us in our endeavours
And powers of thought and will,
To arm ourselves for life’s fight
With patience, courage still

Here we outgrow our childhood,
Our days of play and fun.
We face instead womanhood
A course we’ll duly run
